Shohei-zaka Institute (origin of the University of Tokyo / the University of Tsukuba) was established
1872
The National Higher Normal School was established in Tokyo
1899
The department of handicraft in the National Higher Normal School (later Tokyo Higher Normal School) was established

1949
The Tokyo University of Education was established and its department of art and design in the Faculty of Education also started.
1956
Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics, Dr. Shin-ichiro TOMONAGA was inaugurated as President. (-1962)
1973
The University of Tsukuba was founded with the First Cluster of Colleges, Schools of Medicine, School of Health and Physical Education, and the University Library.

1975
The Second Cluster of Colleges, School of Art and Design, Master's and Doctoral Programs of
the Graduate School were established.
1976
Professor Shunsuke MITAMURA was inaugurated. From 1977, he invited those artists as professors - Katsuhiro YAMAGUCHI, Morio SHINODA, Tatsuo KAWAGUCHI and Yoichiro KAWAGUCHI.
1985
“TV WAR” in The International Exposition, TSUKUBA SCIENCE EXPO’85 was held.
